Ingredients
For the Donuts:
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup applesauce
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1 large egg
– 1/4 cup milk
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Caramel Glaze:
– 1 cup powdered sugar
– 2 tablespoons caramel sauce
– 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
3. In another bowl, whisk together the applesauce, granulated sugar, egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
5. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool the donuts in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
7. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, caramel sauce, and milk until smooth. Dip cooled donuts into the glaze and allow to set.
